Rolling Acres Mall in Akron, Ohio. Built in 1975, the mall originally had 21 stores with Sears being the main attraction. At its peak, the mall boasted 140 stores, a food court and a movie theater.
Starting in the mid 90s, the mall experienced a decline in tenancy and foot traffic. By 2008, most of the stores at the mall were shuttered. Sears remained operational until 2011 and J.C. Penny lasted until 2013.
The mall itself was demolished in 2017, except for the main area that housed the non-retail ventures. In 2020, Amazon took over the site to develop a distribution facility. source
