🔶Until 1956 French schools were allowed to serve half a litre of wine or beer to students under 14. wine & beer were served between lessons & students were encouraged to drink, Alcohol was banned entirely from schools in 1981.
✅The reason was that people were under the impression that alcohol killed microbes, and it did at least seem to help with warming the chest when the child was suffering from a cold.
