NEW - Magdeburg Christmas market gets cancelled, due to security issues after 2024 car-ramming attack by Taleb A, a refugee from Saudi Arabia, whose trial began on Monday.
Taleb A is charged with murdering six people, attempted murder of 338 people, grievous bodily harm of 309 people and dangerous driving.
Reports described Taleb A as, critical of Islam and voicing support for German's AfD party.
UPDATE - Mayor Simone Borris has said that the Magdeburg Christmas Market is now scheduled to open as planned on November 20, with extra security measures in place.
