The brain doesn't like idleness
If you don’t set goals and don’t go towards them, then the mind rushes not to the future, but to the past.
We start walking in circles, thinking about our mistakes and failures. The mind is idle because there are no tasks to keep it working.
As a result, we experience constant anxiety and plunge into fears. This lifestyle can be dangerous for the psyche, as it provokes despair and depression.
Three tips against idleness:
1. Find a goal
Not necessarily large-scale, highly intelligent or noble. Just choose something you enjoy and dive into it, taking small steps every day.
2. Don't idle too long
Regular mental exercise is important for a healthy mind. It is possible (and sometimes useful) to lie on the couch doing nothing, but it is worth alternating such rest with periods of activity.
3. Focus on your sphere of influence
Make efforts where much, if not everything, depends on you: relationships with loved ones, physical fitness, health, work projects.
