For those who commented on my post on virginity and say that the husband must also be a virgin, I am afraid I have to disagree.
It is ideal if the man is also a virgin, but Scripturally, virginity in marriage was only expected from women. And that was the entire basis of a bride price. Scripturally, bride prices were not paid for non-virgins. We see this in Exodus 22:16-17.
You will observe that David paid a bride price for the virgin Micha-1 Samuel 18:25-27. But David did not pay any bride price for the non-virgin Abigail-1 Samuel 25:40.
Intercourse has different effects on the bodies and minds of men and women. Women get pregnant, men don't. Breakups affect women emotionally and spiritually more than it affects men. Men stay fertile longer than women.
Physically, mentally, spiritually and chemically, our bodies and minds are different.
And even in the reproductive process, intercourse is over the moment the male is done.
And you see it in the way God designed our bodies. For example, you can tell if a woman is a virgin because her hymen will be broken, but nothing happens to a man's reproductive organ if he loses his virginity.
Nothing is released into the man's body during the act. The release is into the woman. That is why in agriculture, you have the term 'virgin land' but you do not hear of virgin farmer. The woman is the farm. The man is the farmer.
That alone tells us what the Intention of our Creator was when He created us.
The inescapable conclusion is that men and women are different. The sexes are not equal, much as modern liberalism and wokeness tries to make us think they are. The same principles do not apply to them equally.
I do not think it is fair. If I had my way, it would not be so. But I do not have my way. God does not work on the basis of fairness. He operates based on justice. And who am I to question Him?
